The goal of the Club is to educate the public about the history, importance, qualities, training and care of the breed, encourage and promote quality in the breeding and performance of purebred Cirneco dell’Etna with strict adherence to the breed standard while striving to bring their natural qualities to perfection and to rescue and otherwise ensure humane treatment for the breed throughout the continental US.
In 2015 CdECA updated its bylaws to create a new pathway to membership. A provisional membership category, Newsletter Membership, was established. Newsletter membership is open to all Cirneco enthusiasts who subscribe to the purpose of CdECA. Any person interested in CdECA membership may submit a completed application documents agreeing to abide by the Code of Ethics, By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation of the Club and, dependent on jurisdiction, be in good-standing with AKC, FCI and ASFA as applicable. The membership is automatic upon completion of the application process. Newsletter membership brings benefits, including receipt of our quarterly newsletter (the Cirnechi Chat), member inclusion to CdECA’s Facebook Group, and regular email updates from the club regarding events, activities, and news. Newsletter membership is provisional and can be held for no more than three years.
After holding Newsletter membership for two years, members may request full membership. The provisional two year period allows prospective members the opportunity to engage in Club activities and meet CdECA members, including those who might serve as full membership sponsors. Full membership carries the responsibilities and privileges of voting, holding office, sponsorship of new members, and participation in CdECA’s breeder referral program.
